Quick answer: The cost to tint a car depends on four things: the type of film (dyed, carbon or ceramic), how many windows and how much glass your vehicle has, whether old tint has to be removed, and the warranty. Ceramic film costs more but rejects the most heat. For an exact price on your vehicle, request a free CoaterZ quote.
What changes the price of window tint
1. Film type
Dyed film is the most basic option. Carbon film holds its color better. Ceramic film uses non-metallic particles to reject infrared heat and is the premium choice. See window tint options.
2. Vehicle size and glass
A 2-door coupe has less glass than a 4-door sedan, and SUVs and trucks often add quarter windows and larger rear glass. Teslas and other EVs with glass roofs can add roof film.
3. Old tint removal
Faded, bubbled or purple film has to be stripped and the adhesive cleaned off before new film goes on, which adds labor.
4. Windshield and extras
A windshield visor strip or clear heat-rejecting film on the windshield are add-ons. Florida limits what can go on the windshield; see our Florida tint law guide.
5. Warranty and installer
Quality film and a clean install cost more up front but avoid peeling and bubbling later. Ask any shop what warranty comes with the film.
How to get an accurate quote
- Your year, make and model
- Which windows you want tinted
- The shade you want (we will check it is legal)
- Whether there is old tint on the car
Is cheap tint worth it?
Low-cost film can fade, bubble or turn purple in the Florida sun, and then you pay again for removal. If you plan to keep the car, a better film usually costs less over time.
Bundle and protect more
Many customers add ceramic coating or paint correction while their car is in for tint. Learn about shades in tint levels explained.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to tint a 4 door car?
It depends on the film and the car. A 4-door sedan has more glass than a coupe, and ceramic film costs more than dyed film. Call any CoaterZ shop with your year, make and model for an exact free quote.
Is ceramic tint worth the extra cost?
In Florida, usually yes. Ceramic film rejects more heat without going darker, so you can stay within the legal shade and still get a cooler cabin.
Why do tint quotes vary so much between shops?
Film brand and type, warranty, how the film is cut, and whether old tint must be removed all change the price. Ask what film is used and what the warranty covers.
Does removing old tint cost extra?
Usually, because old film and adhesive have to be stripped and cleaned before new film goes on. We will include it in your quote.
Does CoaterZ offer free tint quotes?
Yes. Call Palm Harbor (727) 935-4621, Lutz (813) 467-8149 or Sarasota (941) 297-0125, or request a quote online.
